Our History

1994

The Mongolian- Russian-American (joint venture) “Gurvansaikhan” was established with the main purpose of conducting uranium exploration and production in the Gobi region Mongolia.

1997

Denison Mines acquired the US shares from Energy Fuels in the Gurvansaikhan joint venture and concentrated on exploration of the Hairhan, Choir and Ulziit deposits.

2008-2011

The resources of Khairkhan, Kharaat, Gurvansaikhan and Ulziit exploration fields were presented to the Mineral Resources Expert Council by a team headed by director B. Bat-Ochir and chief geologist A.S. Budunov, and the first uranium hydrogen type deposits in Mongolia were approved and handed over.

2012

On 16 November 2012, Collaboration Agreement between the Nuclear Energy Agency of Mongolia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic was signed.

2015

The share of the American side of Gurvansaikhan LLC was transferred to Uranium Industry Company of the Czech Republic. Uranium Industry a.s and Mon-Atom LLC signed in Shareholders Agreementon June 12, 2015

2016

Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority issued a license for the exploitation of Khairkhan, Kharaat, Gurvansaikhan, and Ulziit fields and concluded a contract for the use of deposits.

2017

A cooperation agreement was signed with the high-tech institute of Kazatomprom Company of Kazakhstan to conduct the Technical-Economic basis of the Khairkhan deposit pilot plant in accordance with international standards.

2022

Detailed exploration work to increase reserves at the Khairkhan deposit began

Government Support for the Uranium Industry Project

Czech-Mongolian Intergovernmental Support
  • On December 19th, 2012, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Nuclear Agency of Mongolia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the field of nuclear technology and uranium ores
  • The MOU focused on the exploration, mining, and processing of radioactive materials in Mongolia
  • Support for the Uranium Industry project has been confirmed through protocols of the Czech-Mongolian Intergovernmental Working Committee
  • In 2013, the Mongolian State bodies, including the State Khural and the State Property Committee, approved full support for the Joint Venture Company project between Uranium Industry and Mon-Atom
Czech-Kazakh Intergovernmental Support
  • In December 2016, Uranium Industry a.s. and NAC Kazatomprom entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • Cooperation with NAC Kazatomprom is highlighted as a priority project in the protocols of the Czech-Kazakh intergovernmental commission.
  • The collaboration encompasses geology, mining, and subsequent processing of nuclear materials.
  • The cooperation also includes various fields related to the full nuclear cycle.
Strategic Joint Ventures and Agreements
  • The acquisition of the GSJV asset was executed through a tripartite MOU between Uranium Industry, Denison Mines Corp., and the State Nuclear Energy Commission of Mongolia.
  • The 2013 meeting of Mongolian state bodies led to the approval of the Joint Venture Company project by the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the National Security Council.
  • The Joint Venture between Uranium Industry and Mon-Atom has received continuous support from Mongolian governmental organizations.
  • The strategic agreements facilitate the Uranium Industry’s expansion and operational capabilities in Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
